The Maltese fruit has been developed through hybridization of two fruits: Grapefruit (Citrus maxima) and Orange (Citrus reticulata).It is a very popular fruit in Bangladesh, but local production is very low; Most of them are imported from abroad. It is also called 'Malta' in Urdu. It is also called 'Santara' in Hindi and 'Sumathira Tenga' in Assamese.
